Accommodation
Lentorre Lodge offers an uninhibited views of the Nguruman Escarpment that forms the western wall of the Great Rift Valley alongside unparalleled views of Mount Shompole, an ‘active’ volcano Oldonyo Lengai (known as the ‘Mountain of God’ and the Olkiramatian and Shompole plains, with nothing to interrupt the views but pure wilderness.
The Lodge is unfenced, with three security guards that patrol at night, and offers ‘taxi services’ to and from the rooms after dusk. An upper common area with a bar is where breakfast with a view is served. The lower common area is about 50 meters away from the upper area, separated by the pool. The lower common area is set up for guests to relax during the day and has its own fully stocked bar and overlooks a waterhole and blind . Dinner is served out here under the stars overlooking the waterhole so guests can have dinner and watch what comes to have a drink.
Lentorre Lodge offers six villas with eight rooms.
Hides & Wildlife
Lentorre offers amazing photographic opportunities, through its award-winning hides, game drives and close proximity to the flamingoes of Lake Magadi.
Hides on offer include:
- Lentorre overnight hide. This amazing hide provides amazing opportunities to photograph a range of species from leopards to giraffe. This hide is 20 foot in length, air conditioned and offers beds and a flushing toilet, plus importantly a bar, fridge, library and wine rack! Four external lights can be controlled individually internally, allowing for a variety of lighting to be experimented with. From this hide guests have the opportunity to photograph wildlife ranging from lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, zebra, giraffe, eland, to some very special sightings such as striped hyena, civet cat, white tailed mongoose, owls, caracal and porcupine.
- Ndoto overnight hide on the nearby Shompole Conservancy (minimum of one evening). This hide was created to capture beautiful images with a stunning background. This hide attracts a variety of wildlife including Zzbra, wildebeest, caracal, cheetah, civet, leopard, eland, jackals and lots of bird life including kori bustards and grey crowned cranes.
- Lentorre bird hides. The Eastern-facing Hide has the distant sky as its background and the Western-facing Hide has a distant escarpment as its background so guests can capture varied photos at both Hides. The Hides are quite unique visually. They have been built from waterproof cement and locally sourced materials. You can photograph a variety of subjects including rollers, weavers, finches, hornbills, starlings, hammerkops, geese, and kingfishers - as well as squirrels and monkeys!
- Lake Magadi. An excursion to photograph flamingoes.
A wide variety of wildlife can be photographed during game drives, including impala, elephant, lion, cheetah, aardwolf and spotted hyena.
